Mobile Security Member

This job is best suited for active, physically-fit Security Agents who are either seeking a career in law enforcement or military, or who have prior service and experience in a law enforcement or military position. We are seeking high-energy Agents who are driven and motivated to make a difference to reduce crime and ensure safe and secure communities in Edmonton.

Our Security Agents are responsible for responding to calls for service, monitor CCTV surveillance equipment and complete accurate daily security and incident reports. Security Agents will be called upon to respond to emergencies and diverse range security complaints where they will be required to use sound judgment to resolve conflict, remove trespassers and in some cases arrest persons who are committing criminal acts. Security Agents will deal with a broad range of people and some individuals may be homeless, drug and/or alcohol intoxicated or uncooperative; where guards will be expected to perform their duties in a respectful and professional manner.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY**:

- **Valid Alberta Security Guard and/or Investigator License**:

- Must Have a Valid Class 5 Drivers License With a Clear Drivers Abstract
- No Criminal Record, Outstanding Criminal Charges, Criminal Affiliations or a history of Civil Disorder in any jurisdiction or country
- A steady and verifiable employment background that is free of terminations, quitting without notice or misconduct is required
- **Applicants must be physically fit **and capable of performing a diverse range of security duties without restriction or impediment, actively run if required to respond to an emergency and be able to lift heavy objects (persons) when necessary, to provide first aid or to make a physical arrest
- Prior Canadian Police, Provincial or Federal Government Peace Officer or Canadian Armed Forces Experience is a strong asset
- Prior high-profile security experience in a hospital, Retail Division, University campus or any other high
- profile environment is an asset
- **You must communicate FLUENTLY in English - spoken and written**:

- Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Applicants must be capable of using a computer to complete detailed daily security occurrence/patrol reports
- Valid First Aid, CPR & AED certification is an asset
- PPCT or Arrest Control Tactics Certification is an asset
- You must know your ABST course content and have a strong working knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Code as it pertains to your authorities as a security guard, powers of arrest and use of force restrictions

STARTING PAY RATE: $18.30 Hourly

**MOBILE PATROL DUTIES**:

- Patrolling and following protocols as per the post orders, which may include indoor or outdoor patrols
- Attend to Calls For Service and mobile stand-downs for shift coverage as required
- Present a polished, professional, customer friendly image at all times
- Ability to manage conflicts and incidents and to de-escalate
- Ensure that the safety of sites and emergency procedures are followed in response to fire alarms and other site emergencies
- Undertake site specific training, follow direction and guidance
- Demonstrate good judgment, common sense and decision-making ability, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other incidents
- Meticulous record keeping, report writing, observation skills excellent verbal and written communication skills
