**The opportunity**

The Technical Program Manager reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Wealth Technology and is responsible for managing the technical implementation of cross-team epics, projects, initiatives, and enhancements on a value stream that aligns to the Wealth Business.

**The Role**
- Leading a squad of engineers, analysts and testers while working with numerous internal and external partners.
- Support with the definition of the technical product goal and vision for Manulife Wealth, creating and evolving a strategy for protecting Manulife’s customers and their data.
- Have or develop a deep, technical understanding of the product offering. Uncover and understand customer needs, translating them into technical user stories.
- Optimize value delivered by resource partners/engineers, using Agile Methodology.
- Set goals within Wealth Technology and risk strategies. Help mitigate risks and dependencies.
- Call out and track impediments leading to effective solutions.
- Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks.
- Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineers.
- Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other team members to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
- Ensure adherence to Manulife’s Engineering practices and procedures for currency, patching and upgrades.
- Work with partners and vendor on Product Management and program execution for operational excellence.
- Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos.
- Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices.

**What we are looking for**

**Leadership**
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in technical delivery leadership
- Ideally experience working in a wealth management, asset management or capital markets environment
- Use knowledge of the FinTech industry and the market trends to suggest alternate approach options to leadership based on current project obstacles and objectives
- Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical terms
- Lead, manage, develop, and motivate a delivery team while working closely with Wealth stakeholders and the broader GWAM Technology team to unlock enterprise value through technology.
- Experience working with onshore and offshore teams and vendors
- Strong problem-solving skills, copes with sophisticated situations using both skills and experience to lead to the right outcome
- Develop and oversee the execution of near-term tactics and long-term strategies, balancing and prioritizing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Has experience in collaborating and partnering with programmers, database admins, system engineers and architects, network engineers, vendor SMEs across a global, distributed environment
- Constantly learns from both success and failure
- Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to lead through creative abrasion

**Skills**
- Has expertise in leading iterative and agile initiatives; PMP, SAFe or CSM designation would be an asset.
- Hands on experience in structuring delivery plans using agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
- Experience in translating technical information into executive level communications
- Experience with big data technology (Azure PaaS, etc)
