**The Position**:
Job Title: Parent Support Worker, Community
Job Type: Full Time
Work Arrangement: Remote
**Position Overview**
The Parent Support Worker (PSW), Community, supports parents and caregivers to work towards their individual goals, including support in parenting children age 0-6. Using a Case Management approach, the PSW will assist parents to create service plans, connect to internal and external resources and provide crisis and emotional support. The PSW meets with clients individually as well as supports psycho-educational groups. The role is integral to building a supportive and vibrant community for families. This position reports to the Supervisor, Community Based Programs.
**This position requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driver’s abstract and use of a vehicle with appropriate insurance. There is an expectation of flexibility with hours to meet client needs; some evening and weekend work required.**:
**Accountabilities**:
- Maintain regular communication with a caseload of clients and help reduce barriers to receiving support;
- Support clients with a range of goals, including parenting, child development, employment, education, healthy relationships, meeting basic needs, income and finances, lifestyle, and physical and mental health;
- Complete assessments and surveys with clients to inform service delivery;
- Program plan, co-facilitate groups and support program events; such as Nurturing Parenting, Family Fun Night, etc;
- Administrative task such as data collection, database input and casework documentation;
- Support clients to learn to navigate systems and advocate for themselves;
- Positively represent Kindred and the Community Programs division with sector partners, donors, volunteers and other stakeholders;
- Participate in individual and group supervision, team/agency/division meetings, live observations and professional development opportunities;
- Support clients by accompanying and/or transporting them to appointments, professional meetings etc., as well as meeting them in the community or in their homes;
- Work collaboratively with community partners and other program staff;
- Consultation with supervisor, colleagues, natural supports and other professionals;
- Participate in committees and events that support the agency and the division;
- With support of supervisor, coordinate use of holiday time to best suit the needs of the program;
- Support clients to access internal and external resources;
- Support agency needs as they arise.
**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related Human Services field or a diploma with experience aligned with the position;
- 3-5 years working with families experiencing vulnerability;
- Eligible and in good standing with professional governing body if applicable;
- Takes a posture of Cultural humility in working with diverse populations; experience with Indigenous and/or Immigrant families is an asset;
- Experience with quality assurance, data management, program outcome measurements and evaluation, and co-creation of reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Utilized a Case Management approach to support client needs;
- Familiarity with using computerized tools (e.g., zoom, MS teams, databases) for communication and case management is expected;
- Crisis management;
- Ability to cross-train to another divisional role to provide back up when needed;
- Group planning and facilitation skills;
- Knowledge of child development and positive parenting practices;
- Knowledge of adolescent development, domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health;
- Knowledge of Trauma-informed practice, Systems Theory and working through a family lens.
