Construction Foreman

We are currently seeking an experienced Foreman with a background in Commercial Carpentry to join our team of professionals dedicated to providing quality service and expertise in commercial and light industrial construction. This career opportunity is a full-time placement located in Edmonton.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

Ø Manage project activities throughout the life cycle of the project, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, train and assist our general labour.

Ø Allocate general and daily responsibilities to our in-house team.

Ø Act as a liaison with clients, designers, project managers, subtrades and other project stakeholders.

Ø Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the teams through their efforts to produce deliverables according to specification.

Ø Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.

Ø Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.

Ø Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.

Ø While managing projects, you will ensure they are complete on time, safely and within budget according to the specified contract.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)**:
Ø Providing overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support to the project.

Ø Developing and implementing the project safety plan and leading by example for health and safety practices and procedures.

Ø Ensuring the project is constructed as per design, budget, resources, quality, and schedule

Ø Assisting the project manager.

Ø Managing project performance and providing performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule.

Ø Negotiating and issuing subcontracts, major purchase orders and progress payments and monitoring their progress and schedule.

Ø Understanding, communicating, and enforcing the contract and contract documents.

Ø In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSH guidelines

Ø Identifying and managing risk and opportunities on construction projects.

Ø Responsible for the implementation to completion on commercial projects, along with growing the revenue of the organization. While managing projects, you will ensure they are complete on time, safely and within budget according to the specified contract.

Ø High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.)

**REQUIREMENTS/WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE**:
Ø 5+ years of experience in commercial construction with a solid understanding of all construction trades, safety, and construction techniques.

Ø 3+ years working in commercial carpentry or Journeymen ticket.

Ø Experience managing projects ranging up to $5M, or multiple smaller projects.

Ø Able to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.

Ø CSTS-2020, WHMIS-2015 certifications.

Ø Valid driver’s licence and working vehicle as frequent travel to local site and off-site locations as required.

Ø In-depth knowledge of construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.

Ø Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.

Ø Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, construction foreman, carpentry, and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.

Ø Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field is an asset but now required.

Ø Gold Seal Certification (GSC) or Gold Seal Intern (GSI) is an asset but not required.

Ø First aid skills and/or certificates are assets but not required.

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
