Overnight Cleaner

**Basic Purpose**

Under the direction of the manager, the Overnight Cleaner contributes to the consistency of departmental and brand standards by cleaning and maintaining the public areas of the hotel.

**Responsibilities**:

- Clean and maintain assigned public areas during the lower traffic times of the overnight shift. These areas include the Lobby level, the restaurant and bar area, the guest elevators, the Granville level as well as the pool and fitness facilities of the hotel.
- Ensure the security of keys, company information, guest information and guest rooms at all times
- Report unsafe work conditions, areas requiring repair or suspicious person to the Department Head
- Understand and practice the correct usage and storage of cleaning agents in line with health and safety regulations and manufacturers’ instructions
- Utilizes personal protective equipment such as gloves and biohazard disposal containers when required
- Be aware of the action to be taken in the event of an emergency such as fire in accordance with procedures
- Committed to providing exceptional customer service working within the guidelines set out by procedures and the brand.
- Responding to and anticipating guest needs such as responding to special requests or VIP rooms. Follows through on guest requests and takes action immediately
- Treat each individual with respect and foster a cooperative, productive, positive and respectful work environment. Assist coworkers where necessary
- Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner
- Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation and personal hygiene
- Attend meetings as required and recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation
- Contribute to cost control through energy conservation and correct usage and storage of all materials/equipment
- Provides a favorable image of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and the Brand to the public by consistently demonstrating SilverBirch Values (Engagement, Quality, Performance, Integrity and Growth).
- Other related duties and projects as assigned

**Preferred Education & Qualifications**:

- 1 years previous cleaning experience is an asset
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
- WHMIS training is an asset but can be provided by the hotel
- Ability to communicate verbally and written in English

**Working Conditions**:

- Physically fit and **a**ble to push, pull, and lift up to 30 lbs. and to bend and kneel with comfort
- Fast paced environment that is often demanding
- Stand, walk and remain on feet to perform job duties for entire shift duration
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
- Use of cleaning chemicals
- Available for working weekends, and statutory holidays as required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $16.03-$16.53 per hour
