**Role Summary**
As the Payroll Manager you will provide day-to-day management and coordination of the end-to-end payroll process for the US and Canada. You will be responsible for ensuring a smooth payroll, time, and labor processing. This includes but is not limited to the preparation, documentation, and validation of on-cycle biweekly payrolls and off-cycle payrolls when needed for multiple legal entities in the US and Canada. This role will also prepare and deliver assigned tasks associated with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll and projects and deliverables.
**What You Will Do**
- Manages and develop the payroll department across US and Canada
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Process Year-end taxation, e.g., W2, T4, T2200, taxable benefits, EHT, Worker compensation reconciliation, etc.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Facilitates audits as required by providing records and documentation
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing procedures
- Coordinates with interdepartmental staff on status paperwork for new hires, terminations, disability, etc.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned
**What You Will Need**
- Degree in Accounting, Business Admin or related field desired, but not required
- 5 - 7 years of payroll experience including 1 - 2 years of supervisory responsibility
- Working knowledge on Canadian and US payroll and labor standards
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce payroll system required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of payroll compliance and keeping abreast of payroll regulations
