Job Summary:
Since migrating our HR and Finance operations to the cloud-based Workday ERP platform in 2020, Langara College has built a strong foundation for ongoing digital transformation. The College is now entering an exciting phase as it modernizes its Student Information Systems (SIS), implementing a comprehensive suite of solutions, including Workday Student to enhance services, streamline operations, and support student success. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative initiative that will shape the future of Langara’s academic and administrative operations.

Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Change Management, the Training Specialist plays a key role in supporting learning activities essential for the successful adoption of the transformation initiatives by students, staff and academics. This position is responsible for the design, development, coordination, and implementation of learning activities that equip Operational Leaders to effectively prepare their teams in adopting updated processes, new ways of working and related technologies or solutions.

Training Specialist collaborates closely with Operational Leaders, Change Management Specialists, and other project team members, to build and coordinate learning resources. These resources focus on building process understanding, helping employees first understand what is changing and why, before learning how to perform the new tasks using the new solutions or technologies.

Key to this role is collaboration within a large, cross-functional team, understanding the people side of change, and the ability to use Microsoft Office tools to manage and coordinate training resources and activities. This non-teaching role supports delivery by operational leaders, focusing on process clarity and role understanding rather than just system use. This position is project-specific and limited to the adoption and readiness scope of the initiative. Upon completion, all resources and responsibilities will be handed over to operations for sustainment as this role does not manage long-term maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Learning Coordination:
- Plan and manage learning activities aligned with Initiative milestones to support Operational Leaders in driving successful adoption of updated processes and related solutions or technologies, by impacted audiences.- Plan and manage learning readiness and learning plans for key project engagement deliverables, aligned with testing cycles such as User Acceptance Testing, Feedback Sessions, Mock Semesters, and other test cycles, in collaboration with the Testing and Business Analyst, Operational Leads, and Change Management Specialists.- Collaborate with Operational Leads, Change Management Specialists, and other project team members to develop, validate and implement learning deliverables including but not limited to plans and materials.- Coordinate scheduling, documentation, and logistics using in-house tools such as SharePoint and MS Office.- Develop and manage specific learning engagement plans scope, schedule, deliverables, deadlines, milestones, and logistics in collaboration with the project team.- Coordinate technical access and support with testing teams for learning in test environments.- Develop or oversee the development of learning resources by instructing and reviewing tasks completed by junior team members.- Provide guidance to junior team members involved in the development and support of learning resources.- Collaborate with departments including but not limited to People & Culture, Education Technology, Strategic Communications and Marketing and Integrated Planning and Accountability.- Serve as the central coordination point between operational leaders, change management specialists, and project team members for all learning-related activities.

Learning Design, Development & Implementation:
