**COMMUNITY RECREATION ASSISTANT**
TEMPORARY 0.8FTE
(October 2024- March 2025)
A highly motivated, caring, and skilled individual is needed to provide support for adults with acquired brain injury to participate in therapeutic recreational activities in a community-based rehabilitation program and clinical setting.
**Responsibilities**:
- As a team member of Recreation Program, facilitate recreation therapy programming in a group and one-to-one setting
- Provide support for adults with acquired brain injury to participate in leisure activities at ARBI, in the community, and in continuing care homes
- Provide ongoing supervision and support for clients and volunteers
- Work closely with a client-centered, multi-disciplinary team under the direction of a Recreation Therapist(s)
- Communicate closely with families/guardians and residential staff regarding client related needs and/or concerns
- Administrative duties that support the Recreation Program
- Assist with the development and evaluation of recreation programs, including partnerships with community organizations and continuing care homes
- Engage in on-going continuing education, and support student placements
- Other duties as assigned by Recreation Therapist(s)
Qualifications:
- Experience in a rehabilitation environment and/or with the brain injury population
- Emergency First Aid or CPR
- Vehicle is required and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
