**Objective**:
Provide leadership and administration of the OFIFC Indigenous Youth Council (IYC), including developing communication, programming, and engagement strategies with urban Indigenous youth between the ages of 16 to 29 by acting as a youth liaison to support youth engagement development with Friendship Centres.

**Key Deliverables**:

- Support the activities of the OFIFC IYC, including monthly meetings, in-person gatherings, work plan development, communications, and youth events.
- Implement the Annual Youth Elections Assembly, bringing together youth from across Ontario Friendship Centres to set the strategic direction for urban Indigenous youth to address their needs, priorities, and gaps.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for youth engagement across the Friendship Centre movement.
- To support the vision of the OFIFC IYC by implementing strategies that raise awareness of OFIFC youth programming and encourages involvement by urban Indigenous youth through Friendship Centres. Support the development of resources, knowledge transfer sessions and community relationship building for youth in the Friendship Centre Movement (FCM).

**Key Responsibilities**:
Youth Leadership and Advocacy (60%):

- Provide advice, mentorship, coaching and support to OFIFC IYC members and OFIFC youth board members.
- Develop and maintain relationships with urban Indigenous youth, youth-focused staff members, and Indigenous Youth Councils at Friendship Centres.
- Works closely with Director of Children, Youth & Education, Communications and Community Engagement Advisors on youth initiatives as directed by the OFIFC IYC.
- Acts as a resource to the OFIFC and Friendship Centres in relation to positive youth engagement by providing insight and guidance on youth related matters and ideas on how to best meet the needs of urban Indigenous youth in the community.
- Work with Financial Analyst to track expenditures and complete financial reporting related to youth events and initiatives in a timely manner.
- Facilitates all OFIFC IYC activities including council meetings, youth events, and the Annual Youth Elections Assembly.
- Designs, develops, and implements activities that attract and engage urban Indigenous youth.
- Connecting youth to other community supports/resources as needed.
- Seeks opportunity for OFIFC work areas to incorporate youth voices.
- Provides detailed solutions and recommendations for strategic change to support youth voices, needs, and priorities.
- Develop organizational resources, templates, and information for OFIFC IYC, OFIFC, and Friendship Centres.

Communication and Engagement Strategies (40%):

- Prepares reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and meeting minutes.
- Collaborate with OFIFC IYC and OFIFC to provides active and creative content for social media outreach to urban Indigenous youth ensuring content is specific and safe to youth audience.
- Provides ongoing input, information, and materials that support internal and external communication efforts about the progress on youth engagement at each Friendship Centre.
- Develops memos, schedules, organizational templates, reports, briefings, and strategies.
- Plans and coordinates trainings, workshops or teachings for youth that will enhance their working relationships with people internal or external to OFIFC.
- Coordinates workshop and travel arrangements for youth events.
- Plan, coordinate and implement Annual Youth Elections Assembly.

**Education/Work Experience**:

- Diploma in Social Science, or a related discipline, working toward a university degree will be an asset.
- Over 1, up to and including 3 years experience in youth initiatives preferably within an Indigenous

- Awareness of current issues that urban Indigenous youth may be
- Social Media marketing including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, ).
- Valid Driver’s License (minimum G2).
