- Days- 7.5 hours per shift-
**WAGE RATE**:

- SCALE Minimum Maximum- OPSE19 $28.80/hr $33.31/hr**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Review the patient record for the purpose of coding and abstracting information to satisfy CIHI, MOH and hospital requirements
- Safeguard the confidentiality of all health information in accordance with the ethical and legal requirements of the institution and CIHI guidelines.
- Respond to written, telephone and in-person requests for the release of health information recorded in the health record in a courteous, systematic, timely, efficient and responsive manner, while ensuring that any medical disclosure safeguards the confidentiality of the records within ethical and legal requirements.
- Represent the hospital in court cases involving subpoena of health records, utilizing a thorough knowledge of principles of medical jurisprudence and laws governing access to,and disclosure from the health record.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Certification and membership with the Canadian College of Health Information Management Professionals
- A minimum of 3 years of Health Records experience in ICD10 and CCI coding and abstracting in an electronic environment
- Thorough knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Public Hospital’s Act with respect to Release of Information
- Have strong interpersonal communication skills, oral and written
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and automated CPI/ADT
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work under pressure with deadlines
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
