**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you a strategic leader with a passion for public safety and operational excellence? Join the Government of Alberta as the Director, Examinations and Licensing—a pivotal role responsible for shaping how driver testing and licensing services are delivered across the province. This is your opportunity to influence transportation policy, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and lead programs that directly impact the safety and efficiency of Alberta’s roadways.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Driver, Carrier and Vehicle Services, the Director, Examinations and Licensing leads the development and delivery of Alberta’s driver training, examination and licensing programs. With a focus on Classes 1 through 6, the role oversees training, policy development, performance standards, and quality assurance for both government-employed and vendor examiners. The Director ensures licensing processes and examination services meet the evolving needs of Albertans while aligning with legislation, strategic goals, and public safety mandates.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training, testing, and re-testing programs across all driver licence classes.
- Overseeing policy and program development to ensure examination standards reflect legislation, industry needs, and operational realities.
- Managing complex stakeholder relationships and leading collaboration with government ministries, vendors, and industry organizations (e.g., AMA, AADE).
- Directing licensing processes for drivers, driver examiners, driving instructors and schools, including quality assurance reviews, performance measures, and program compliance.
- Advising senior leadership on legislative, policy, and operational matters, and contributing to strategic initiatives that shape Alberta's transportation system.
- Administering contracts for vendor-led examination services and ensuring service delivery standards are met across all regions.

**Qualifications**:
Required:
- A related university degree (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, etc.), and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
- Extensive experience in program management and policy development.
