Overall Accountability
The Supervisor, Employee Health and Leaves is responsible for the management of the operations of the Employee Wellness and Leaves team. The Supervisor oversees employee health, leaves, and disability management transactions for the district, and works as the liaison between district partners and People Services.
Specific Accountabilities
- Administers and maintains policies, practices and procedures; oversees the implementation and compliance of industry standards and collective agreement requirements regarding leaves and disability management; recommends new or modified business practices and procedures for any disability and leaves management changes or issues.
- Ensures that established business processes are understood and adhered to by all members of the Employee Health and Leaves team.
- Provides support with employee accommodation plans in collaboration with employees, managers and the appropriate district partner; ensures compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
- Works with providers to provide seamless support with Long Term Disability and Workers’ Compensation Board claims and reporting; ensures compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
- Provides exemplary customer service and support to employees and managers through timely responses to inquiries and the production of employee and manager knowledge articles.
- Conducts routine weekly and monthly data leaves audits.
Qualifications
- Diploma in a related field
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with occupational and non-occupational disability claims, employee leave requests and entitlements.
- Experience working in a multi-union environment an asset.
- CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation is an asset.
- Applicable post-secondary certificate is an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of division policies, Administrative Procedures and applicable legislation and regulations.
- Solid understanding of employment standards, duty accommodate, human rights and privacy legislation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving skills and a demonstrated close attention to detail.
