Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Lead Informatics Specialist

Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are Building the Future of Care Together (BFCT) by developing a shared vision for the future of health care and new hospital infrastructure to care for more patients in our community closer to home for decades. to come.
Led by the Joint VP of Redevelopment, the Building the Future of Care Together Redevelopment Team works collaboratively across both Grand River and St. Mary’s General hospitals to plan, design, and build all components of the redevelopment project together as a new, single organization. This plan includes: A new, state-of-the-art hospital site in Kitchener-Waterloo; renewing and repurposing the existing mid-town K-W Campus as an ambulatory and urgent care centre; renewing and expanding the Freeport Campus in Kitchener for modernized and expanded rehabilitation capacity.
All sites would be governed by the new, single organization following the planned merger of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital in 2025.
We currently have an opportunity for a Temporary Full-time Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Lead Informatics Specialist until July 2026.
**How Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Lead Informatics Specialist support our teams at Grand River and St. Mary’s General Hospital**:
The CPOE/Informatics Pharmacist must possess strong communication and project management skills. As part of a collaborative team, the CPOE/Informatics pharmacist will support the organization-wide design, training, implementation and ongoing maintenance for medication-related health information systems, and CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry System) processes within the Cerner Millennium suite of solutions with a focus on Oncology CPOE.
The CPOE/Informatics pharmacist will:
- provide leadership in developing HIS (health information system) and CPOE infrastructure
- work collaboratively with pharmacy, nursing, allied health, physician and clinical informatics teams to develop integrated solutions
- lead ongoing maintenance work on the pharmacy and CPOE components of the Cerner system, while working collaboratively with the Digital Services, Pharmacy, and Clinical teams to troubleshoot issues affecting the Grand River and St Mary’s Hospital facilities
- liaise between Pharmacy, Oncology, and Digital Services
- champion optimizations and enhancements as they become available from Cerner
**Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Lead Informatics Specialist will bring the following**:
- Bachelor degree in Pharmacy
- Current pharmacist license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in-patient hospital pharmacy practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills
- Demonstrated initiative
- Excellent ability in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Proven good attendance record
**Preferred Qualification**
- Hospital Pharmacy Residency preferred
- Strong computer experience in a medical field and information systems
- Previous experience in Cerner Millennium
- Previous experience with Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE)
