**Health and Safety Assistant** to join our team

**Job Summary**
The Health and Safety Assistant provides support to the Health and Safety Coordinator with day-to-day administrative support, WSIB claims and administration and management, and support other HR and H&S tasks as assigned.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Support with all work-related injuries/illnesses - assist with the submissions of WSIB claim paperwork, support active claims (requesting updated medical from team members, ensuring they are being accommodated with safe/suitable modified work, communication, and follow-up)
- Support Coordinator in team member Early Safe return to Work
- Facilitate and Support accident/investigations and proper corrective actions.
- Support the Safety orientation room - monitor trends within Vuteq and industry and determine if changes or updates need to be made to ensure new and current team members are receiving relevant training; support with tours and presentations as needed
- Support with ergonomic and safety assessments
- Build and maintain a knowledge and understanding of all health and safety legislation; assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures
- Support Health and Safety Coordinator on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Support the Health and Safety Coordinator with all administrative tasks; filing, scanning, tracking,
- Support the Workplace Health and Safety Committee
- Schedule training for team members when required
- Supports HR administrative tasks when required
**Job Qualifications**
**_
Education_**
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate, Degree/Diploma an asset
- Experience and knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and legislation requirements in a manufacturing environment.
**_ Skills and Abilities_**
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powe Point, Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities
- Professional demeanor, ability to exercise discretion while ensuring confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
