We are searching for a Junior System Administrator who will be responsible for providing a reliable work environment for our organization—from server and network performance to security and all other areas that keep our organization’s IT systems running smoothly. The Junior System Administrator must understand computer software, hardware, and networks and is a highly skilled, valuable member of the organization.
To be successful as the Junior System Administrator, you should have an excellent ability to solve problems using your understanding of information systems and computing solutions. The best system administrator will also be a team player, willing to handle all support requests with courtesy and professionalism.
The Junior System Administrator reports to the IT Manager and takes direction from the Infrastructure Manager.
**Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Accountability**:
- **Evaluating network, computing, and storage system processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing reliable and secure solutions**_
- Monitoring performance and providing information on ways to improve the reliability and security of data
- **Responsible for assisting in the maintenance, configuration, monitoring, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization**_
- Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Assist with the administration of Active Directory, O365, Linux, and Unix user and security groups
- Shared responsibility for capacity, storage planning, and storage performance
- Providing training, feedback, and support to users on the usage of data provided
- Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.
- Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
- **Providing Reporting and Advice to the IT Manager and IT team**_
- Presenting ideas for development and improvement of the company’s network, computing, and storage systems
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
- Collaborating with the entirety of the IT department to determine the needs and expectations of ongoing and future projects
- Report performance to IT Infrastructure management, providing progress updates, and maintaining cost-effectiveness, reporting on allocation of resources
- Supporting management by accommodating their request for improvements and potentially developing other management tools

**Qualifications**
The purpose of the following qualifications is to define what qualifications are desirable to ensure success in this position.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- Network administration, or system administration experience
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
- Experience with Windows Server environments
- Experience with Linux and Unix administration is highly desirable
- Experience with Microsoft cloud services
- Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online administration
- Working knowledge of data backup software and administration, preferably Veeam
- Knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
- Some database administration experience is desirable
- Knowledge of scripting and automation tools
- Knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
- Need excellent research
