We are a family business, founded in 2008 with a firm stance behind our motto ‘farm fresh, dirt cheap, delicious’ and a drive to brighten every customer’s day has resulted in our little market becoming a bustling community hub, now providing Vancouver Island’s largest selection of organic, local and conventional produce, a full-service butcher and deli, a boutique florist and garden centre, artisanal grocery, dairy & breads, a bulk foods section and most recently a new coffee bar, bringing us to over 10,000 square feet, buzzing with over 120 employees.

**THE ROLE**:
As the Root Cellar continues to grow exponentially, we are looking to add a full-time Assistant Grocery Manager to our McKenzie Corner team. Our Grocery department is an upbeat work environment where we take great pride in elevating both food appreciation, and food values.
As our Assistant Grocery Manager, you’ll be an up-and-coming leader in the making who is as enthusiastic about good food and good people as we are. You’ll be an integral member of our management team, leading our grocery department team by example, and supporting our Grocery Manager to build an effective, happy, and cohesive team. You share our eye for detail, our focus on continuous improvement, our uncompromising commitment to quality, and you’re excited to put our values to work.
**OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE COMES EQUIPPED WITH**:
- Minimum 2 years of retail experience, preferably in a grocery or specialty grocery environment.
- Experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage time efficiently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Flexibility to work a variety of hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Strong business sense + proven track record of positive results.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- A passion for food and a love for fast paced work environments.
- A high level of self accountability, and an appreciation for details & organization.
**THE DETAILS**:
This is a full-time position commencing promptly. This role is entitled to a competitive salary & comprehensive benefits and employee & family assistance package, as well as a 20% Team Member discount in-store.
