**Job Description**:
This position will report to a Director, Assurance and Advisory (“A&A”) and will be a key team member providing independent advisory and assurance services on an enterprise-wide basis. In this role, you will be focused on maximizing the value delivered by the A&A Group across a wide range of groups and strategic projects selected via a risk-based approach.

As an Associate, Assurance and Advisory (A&A), you will provide support on audit and/or advisory engagements, working collaboratively with colleagues and our internal partners to help instill risk and control discipline in their core activities. You will have the opportunity to learn from and provide actionable recommendations on all CPP Investment’s most critical initiatives and you will provide experience, technical knowledge, and leadership to drive strategic objectives and evolve the perceived value of A&A across the organization.

You will have the best and most strategic enterprise-wide view on both new initiatives as well as existing investment activities and operations. You will work with Risk Management Functions and other control groups to strengthen CPP Investments risk management and internal control infrastructure on a sustained basis. You will work directly with business partners and opine on governance and control best practices for CPP Investments. Working in close collaboration with your colleagues in the A&A Group, you will directly contribute to the development and refinement of our audit strategies and methodologies. By helping reinforce the linkage between our assurance and advisory activities, you will lead by example and help increase our reach, improve our services, and strengthen our impact and influence on an enterprise-wide basis.

**Role-Specific Accountabilities**:
**Audit Planning & Execution**
- Execute audits which includes conducting interviews and reviewing supporting documentation;
- Identifies risks and controls, concludes on the effectiveness of controls, and determines how the effectiveness of the internal controls affects achievement of CPP Investments objectives and compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and external regulations;
- Develop and maintain open lines of communication with management and other key stakeholders (e.g. external auditors), by working collaboratively and constructively;
- Produce appropriate working papers to document work performed;
- Leverage data analytics tools to analyze large volumes of data and present it in an insightful manner;
- Develop value added recommendations as appropriate;
- Present and discuss audit findings and recommendations to the engagement lead and relevant parties during the course of the audit;
- Support the production of informative, concise and value adding engagement reports and/or management letters, as well as reports to the Audit Committee.

**Relationship Building**
- Collaborate with engagement team members to effectively execute assurance and advisory activities as required;
- Foster and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders on assigned engagements to ensure that they receive optimal value from work delivered.
