**Student Success Coach**

32.50 hours per week from September 2025 to June 2026, with the possibility of summer employment based on funding after June 2026

**Mission**

Shuswap Band is seeking an education support worker, for direct support for children who reside in the community attending schools in the Windermere Zone from grades 4 -7 and other grades as needed. Weekly duties will include a variety of direct educational supports for children in school during school hours under the direction of the Shuswap Band’s Education Department with input from appropriate school-based employees.

**What Will You Do?**

Reporting to the Shuswap Band’s Education Director as well as working under the guidance of the Student Navigator, you participate in the development and delivery of support services to individuals or small group(s) of students working closely with classroom and learning support teachers, principals and other school officials to improve student outcomes and support a nurturing environment for children at school.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. With input from school staff and following direction from the Student Navigator, support students’ academic and social emotional needs at school

2. Organize after school groups and support students’ extra-curricular activities

3. Support student independence in use of appropriate accommodations and tools to access curriculum.

4. Assisting with development and maintenance of community work experience placements for students and assisting on class field trips.

5. Following the rules and expectations, employee standards and ethics of a person working with children; behave in a manner that respects the sensitivity and confidentiality of all information related to staff and students.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

**Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills**

1. Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work with limited supervision and/or within a complex team environment.

2. Demonstrates an ability to manage personal behavior in order to influence a positive outcome and deescalate distress.

3. Understand general practice of maintaining confidentiality.

4. Collaborate effectively with community members, band staff and external partners.

5. Understanding of the Shuswap Band community, culture, and Secwepemc values.

6. Understanding of trauma informed practices and willingness to participate in educational opportunities.

7. Demonstrates a high level of adaptability and responsibility and effective interpersonal skills.

8. Provide proactive, trauma-informed care while modelling respect and empathy.

**Trainin**g**and Ex**p**erience**

1. Appropriate post-secondary training (i.e. a diploma in counseling, social work, childcare or education).

2. Successful experience working with students with diverse abilities or disability

3. Additional training in supporting students with diverse abilities or disability may be required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
