**DESCRIPTION**
- We’re looking for a researcher who can help FPInnovations support the industry transition to a more efficient use of digital data generated by harvesting machines (multipurpose harvester and processor) and contribute to solving fibre supply challenges.**Do you**
- Understand industrial harvesting challenges and management processes in forest operations?
- Have creative ideas for solving fibre supply challenges in Canada?
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Digitally transform the supply chain (focus with on-board computer data) and transfer technology / knowledge to our industry partners
- Collaboratively develop, propose, and conduct research projects and contracts for industry nationwide with different internal teams / external partners
- Propose solutions that bring clear, impactful benefits to members based on a solid understanding of their challenges.
- Contribute to the growth of innovation to improve forestry practices and solve fibre supply challenges
- Contribute to the development of algorithms for anolomy detection related to productivity and machine performance
- Write detailed reports and present them to clients in a summary format that clearly displays the impact of the work and the gains delivered to clients
- Be a trusted collaborator in safety matters; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- University degree in forest operations or forest management (Master's degree an asset)
- 3-5 years experience in forestry (harvesting/forest planning)
- Member of (or eligilibity for membership with) a professional order/association
- Valid driver’s permit and availability to travel across Canada
**SKILLS**
- Team player, curious and focused on improving the forest industry
- Great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions to complex technical issues and a knack for driving impact and growth
- Good knowledge of industrial harvesting challenges and management processes in forest operations across Canada
- Strong ability to propose innovative solutions to the fiber supply challenges of processing facilities
- Ability to take ownership of new data analysis tools in complex settings
- Resilience and adaptability to changing priorities
- Project management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and autonomously, good organizational skills and a strong sense of initiative
- Positive attitude and openness to learn
