We are currently seeking a **Project Controls Quantity Surveyor** to join and strengthen our team.
**YOUR PURPOSE**
The main goal of this role is to **manage **and **support Project Services **for the first phase of our client’s project in **Edmonton**. This includes using **standard tools **and **procedures **to address **project risks effectively.**
As a Project Controls Quantity Surveyor, you'll work with the **client’s project team** to ensure **contractors **meet **performance **and **delivery standards**. Your **expertise in scheduling, earned value, and cost control **will be key to the project's success.
You will **report to the Project Services Manager** and be based either at the **module fabrication yard or the construction site.**
You'll collaborate regularly with the **Project Services team, Construction team, Contractors, and Project Managers/Engineers.**
**YOUR MISSIONS**
- **Coordinate Day-to-Day Activities**: Manage assigned activities with the project team.
- **Client and Contractor Interaction**: Engage daily with client representatives, vendors, module fabrication contractors, and construction contractors.
- **Data Compilation**: Assist senior staff in compiling data to monitor individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- **Safety Compliance**: Participate in and advocate for safety programs.
- **Adherence to Standards**: Ensure compliance with client’s standards, expected practices, guides, procedures, and project-specific work processes.
- **Review Construction Schedules**: Analyze submitted schedules for compliance with project guidelines, assessing schedule logic, activity durations, constraints, float, and resource loading.
- **Schedule Progress**: Proactively work with construction contractors to ensure accurate schedule progression in accordance with the approved progress measurement plan.
- **Schedule Analysis**: Track deviations between planned and actual dates and durations, create a statistical understanding of planned data versus actual outcomes, and provide options to mitigate schedule delays and identify opportunities.
- **Constructability Reviews**: Participate in constructability reviews and interactive planning meetings for projects.
- **Progress Measurement**: Develop an efficient progress measurement solution aligned with construction work areas and contractor inputs.
- **Performance Validation**: Validate project performance and progress using earned value methodology.
- **Change Management**: Establish and enforce standard change management procedures to ensure accuracy in capturing and quantifying changes.
- **Audit Installed Quantities**: Audit “as-built” quantities on-site and validate against drawings/documentation.
- **Cost Management Support**: Assist with cost management using client cost management and finance tools, and review contractors’ cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- **Project Change Management**: Support project change management procedures and process field change requests.
- **Supplier Management**: Ensure construction contractors meet their contract project controls obligations and review/assess the validity and accuracy of contract claims as needed.
- **Benchmarking**: Provide input data for and conduct benchmarking activities.
- **Close-Out Data**: Deliver close-out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at the completion of work.
**IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- **Industry Experience**: Minimum of 10+ years in project services positions across all project phases.
- **Education**: BSc Degree and/or Certification in Project Controls or equivalent.
- **Construction Knowledge**: Comprehensive understanding of construction techniques and practices with experience working with construction contractors.
- **Project Controls Principles**: Thorough understanding of project controls principles.
- **Scheduling and Earned Value Management**: Skilled in scheduling and earned value management.
- **Interpersonal Skills**: Excellent communication skills with the ability to integrate across various disciplines and functions.
- **Team Player**: Comfortable handling high workloads, balancing multiple priorities, and managing complex stakeholder interactions in a collaborative way.
- **HSSE Commitment**: Demonstrates a strong commitment to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards.
**SOFTWARE SKILLS**
- **Primavera P6**: Proficient in using Primavera P6.
- **MS Office Suite**: Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
