**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Municipal Enforcement, the Community Peace Officer Level I is responsible for enforcing provincial statutes and municipal bylaws for the City of Fort Saskatchewan and investigating inquiries and public complaints including animal control.
**Responsibilities**:
- include, but are not limited to:
- Comply with and support Municipal Enforcement policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Provide professional testimony in Court and prepare/produce evidence to support prosecutions.
- Promote and enhance traffic safety and the Municipal Enforcement Traffic Safety Plan through conventional traffic enforcement, commercial vehicle enforcement and the use of driver feedback signs.
- Conduct directed or pro-active bike, foot and vehicle patrols to enhance the security of the community.
- Liaise and collaborate with RCMP Officers as part of joint or mutual investigations, or during enforcement of municipal and provincial laws.
- Establish or maintain ongoing professional relations with the local Crown Prosecutors’ office, other provincial or municipal resources or agencies.
- Conduct or contribute to public education related to the mandate of Community Peace Officer including law, animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, youth and/or adult traffic safety, bicycle safety, community standards and related matters.
**Qualifications**:
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. A current Driver’s Abstract will be required at the time of interview.
Hours of Work: Varying shifts; days, nights, and weekends (1950 annual hours)
