**The Opportunity**:
Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of **Grocery Department Backup at our St. Vital Food Store located at 850 Dakota Street, in Winnipeg, Manitoba**. This position reports to the Grocery Manager. The Grocery Department Backup adds value to our Co-operative by providing leadership to the Grocery Department and assisting the Grocery Manager in day-to-day operations.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

- Assist the Grocery Manager in ensuring standards of department presentation and operations are met, including cleanliness and sanitation, merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, and the delivery of world-class customer service.
- Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards, and overall expectations.
- Assist with scheduling department staff to meet the department needs.
- Assist with resolving problems that arise, such as customer complaints, supply shortages, and staffing issues.

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills, previous experience, and competencies:

- Excellent interpersonal skills. We’re looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
- Experience working in retail grocery department is required.
- Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Available to work up to 40 hours per week.
