**The Opportunity**:
Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of **Meat Department Backup **at our **Southdale Store **located at **77 Vermillion Road **, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position reports to the Meat Manager. The Meat Department Backup adds value to our Co-operative by providing leadership to the Meat Department and assisting the Meat Manager in day-to-day operations.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

- Assist the Meat Manager in ensuring standards of department presentation and operations are met, including cleanliness and sanitation, food safety and food handling standards, inventory control, rotation, ordering and commitment buys, and the delivery of world-class customer service.
- Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
- Assist with scheduling department staff to meet production and customer service needs.
- Assist with resolving problems that arise, such as customer complaints, supply shortages, and staffing issues.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills, previous experience, and competencies:

- Excellent interpersonal skills. We’re looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a retail meat department as a meat cutter; **OR **formal training in meat cutting, such as the Food Processing (Animal Proteins) program at Assiniboine Community College.
- Available to work up to 40 hours per week.
