**Description**:
**ABOUT THE ROLE**-
**WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH**Perform duties such as raking, luting, and shoveling asphalt material to ensure a smooth, level surface.
- Operate small equipment such as plate compactors, power brooms, saws, and skid steers as needed.
- Assist in the placement and rolling of asphalt according to specifications, using hand tools and machinery.
- Ensure joints, edges, and surfaces are finished properly for compaction and smoothness.
- Set up and take down work zones, including traffic control signage and devices.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work collaboratively with the paving crew to maintain continuous paving operations and minimize downtime.
- Follow safe work practices, procedures, and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOREducation**:
**Education**:High School Diploma or equivalent
**Required Work Experience**:Minimum 2 years of experience in asphalt paving or road construction**Required Training/Certifications**:Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required; Class 1 or 3 with Air Brakes Endorsement preferred; safety certifications (CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid) are assets**Preferred Technical Skills**:Ability to use paving tools and equipment effectively; knowledge of paving techniques, asphalt materials, and compaction requirements**Travel Requirements**:Knowledge of the City of Saskatoon and surrounding area**Additional Requirements**:
- Able to work in fast-pace environment
- Must be physically fit for repetitive tasks, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
- Perform general other labour duties as required.
