**Bi-Weekly Hours**: 75.0 hours bi-weekly(Commencing in July for One Year with Possible Extension)Reporting to the Director of Policy and FPT Relations, this position provides leadership and support to the Director, Minister, Deputy Minister, and senior management of the Department of Justice & Public Safety in the areas of justice and public safety policy research and development, supports interdepartmental strategic initiatives and innovations, program evaluation, and analysis of key policy issues. The Justice Policy Analyst is also responsible for monitoring emerging trends and issues in Justice & Public Safety policy and operations, including mandate and inter-governmental priorities. The Justice Policy Analyst works within the Policy, Planning and FPT Relations Division. Duties include: - Provide comprehensive advice/recommendations to the Director, Minister, Deputy Minister, and senior management, supported by a review of public policy, service delivery, budgetary and human resources considerations;
- Conduct research and policy in support of justice and public safety policy initiatives, as well as research and analysis of issues/trends of relevance to the department;
- Analyze and evaluating the impact of federal/provincial policy options (policy, laws, and programs) in relation to PEI, including the development of recommendations for the Province’s position and implementation processes;
- Draft Treasury Board and Executive Council memoranda for approval;
- Provide leadership and support to the senior management of the Department in developing departmental capacity for program/service development and evaluation;
- Facilitating/coordinating departmental work teams in the review of selected programs/services, developing evaluation frameworks, as well as review/consolidate information on best practices/current standards and assess departmental performance in relation to these benchmarks;
- Represent the department on a number of internal and external forums, particularly in social policy matters;
- Provides coordination in indigenous justices matters;
- Develop effective public information/communication and presentation materials to report on departmental goals, priority areas, and policy direction, as well as support departmental initiatives and results to internal and external stakeholders; and
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Qualifications**: - University degree in Criminology, justice related studies, public administration or a related field with experience in the area of criminal and/ or civil justice. A Master’s degree would be considered an asset: - Considerable recent public policy research and writing experience;
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;
