**About the Job**:
Welcome to Square One Medical Clinic

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate medical assistant to join our well-established medical clinic in the heart of downtown Mississauga.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Working closely with multiple board-certified physicians.
- Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of a physician.
- Assist physicians in exam rooms.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in the patient’s E-Chart.
- Administer allergy shots, vitamin B12 injections, and other vaccinations that patients won’t have to wait for a family physician to do.
- Prepare E-Chart for the physician before the patient is seen.
- Update the physician before he/she sees the patient.
- Perform certain procedures, such as blood draws, and wart removal.
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
- Be able to direct patients who are sicker or need urgent attention.
- Call patients with abnormal labs and determine a return-to-office plan for those who need urgent attention and those who can wait to be seen and those who can get treatment over the phone.
- Greeting office visitors and manage patient intake.
- Registering patients.
- Preparing patients charts and entering patient’s demographics into database.
- Answering and routing incoming calls.
- Scheduling, confirming and rescheduling appointments for patients.
- Filing and scanning charts.
- Maintain business inventory such as checking supplies.
- Ensure that patient data are accurate and are updated from time to time.
- Expediting patients referral to specialty offices

**KNOWLEDGE**:

- Healthcare field and medical specialty.
- Medical terminology.
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Knowledge of working in an EMR environment.

**SKILLS**:

- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
- The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
- Oscar EMR is an asset.

**EDUCATION**:

- Medical background (doctor/nurse).
- Medical assistant certification (an asset).
- EMR training.
