HOURS: DAYS
SALARY: $34.49 (Min.) - $42.27 (Max.)
In alignment with North Bay Regional Health Centre’s (NBRHC) core values, the Indigenous
Navigator will support hospital programs and initiatives to advance health equity and improved
health and wellness of Indigenous People.
The Indigenous Navigator is responsible for delivering culturally responsive care, guidance and
support to Indigenous people while considering the Indigenous social determinants of health,
cultural safety and anti-racism principles, and Indigenous engagement in program and service
delivery.
Racism and systemic racism impacts access to services, quality of care, and health outcomes for
Indigenous people. Systemic racism also results in a system that inherently privileges the ideas,
needs and norms of the dominant white settler population, including the privileging of western
knowledge over Indigenous approaches and ways of knowing. NBRHC is committed to addressing
and eliminating anti-Indigenous racism and promoting cultural safety and anti-racism. Cultural
safety means Indigenous people are safe and respected, and free of racism and discrimination,
when receiving health services.
