The Regional Cardiovascular Development Lead will be responsible for delivering on a regional mandate supporting
cardiovascular care. Reporting directly to the Director of Cardiovascular Medicine and Renal Programs, the Lead will
be dedicated to optimizing existing processes and participating in innovative cardiovascular initiatives, such as the
Cardiovascular Surgery Project. Through strategic engagement and collaboration with internal teams and external
partners, the Lead will shape and elevate cardiovascular care delivery locally and across the region.
With a solution‑driven approach, the Lead will develop and support the implementation of organizational systems,
processes, and practices to aid in the development and sustainability of the cardiovascular program within
Northwestern Ontario. The Lead will manage a variety of process analysis and improvement initiatives with the
resource capabilities within the region. The Lead will drive professional development efforts by enhancing clinical
abilities, fostering critical thinking, and promoting problem‑solving capabilities among healthcare teams in alignment
with Cardiovascular Surgery development.
The Lead will collaborate to support planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education programs for
the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) and lead these initiatives for associated regional sites.
To further support this, the Lead will partner with TBRHSC Cardiovascular Leadership and other collaborators, such
as the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, leveraging advanced expertise to strengthen cardiovascular initiatives.
When virtual options are unavailable, travel may be required to regional communities to foster meaningful
relationships and facilitate collaborative initiatives. These visits will enhance understanding of local needs and
strengthen regional partnerships. Occasional trips to the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre may be required for specialized
training and educational opportunities.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- Degree in a related healthcare discipline
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience, ideally in an acute care hospital environment
- Minimum 3 years healthcare experience working with all groups within the cardiovascular population (i.e.
cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery)
- Unencumbered registration with the applicable regulatory body
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to interact effectively with staff, patients, family supports and
community partners
- Ability to work effectively individually and within a team setting
- High level of self‑initiative and direction

- Demonstrated commitment to professional practice and contribution to professional workplace/environment
- Collaborative approach to solutions

- Must be able to balance multiple demands, prioritize activities to meet simultaneous deadlines
- Knowledge and understanding of the Cardiovascular Surgery project and the partnership with the Peter Munk
Cardiac Centre.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge and synthesis of cardiovascular disease, specifically cardiovascular surgery (i.e.
coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, etc.).
- Knowledge of cardiovascular health care delivery in the Northwest region.
- Knowledge of local, regional, provincial, & federal issues impacting regional communities.
- Acts as a clinical expert/resource/consultant to allied health professionals to establish, maintain and improve
cardiovascular patient care delivery the region.
- Utilizes various approaches and tools to evaluate community needs, patient care and program delivery.
- Developed new regional referral pathways and strengthen any existing pathways to optimize patient referral
processes ensuring seamless coordination between sites.
