**Inuit Health Program Assistant**

**The opportunity**:
The primary responsibilities of this position involve providing administrative support to administration, health professionals and other program staff of the Inuit Health Program of the Ongomiizwin - Health Services, who live in various communities or outside of Manitoba and travel to Nunavut for the purpose of providing healthcare services for the Inuit Health Program.

The incumbent will book travel for program staff and will reconcile travel claims for program staff.

The incumbent will establish priorities as they relate to the changing priorities of the program.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to reception, mail management, file management and other administrative support and office assistance functions as determined by the program director.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Experience in a health care setting is preferred.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Excel is required.
- Experience with Aurora Finance and/or travel booking systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of University regulations, programs and procedures, especially as they relate to the Section of First Nations, Metis and Inuit is essential.
- Experience working in a First Nations, Metis and/or Inuit Healthcare setting is essential.
- Knowledge of the North and of Inuit culture is required.
- Experience coordinating and booking travel, transportation and accommodations is required
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written is required. Must have excellent spelling and grammar skills, including experience writing routine correspondence.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work with confidential material is required.
- Must have strong time-management, prioritization and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills is required.
- Demonstrated ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines is required.
- Excellent keyboarding and word processing skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to establish program priorities is required.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and to handle a varied workload is required
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and with diplomacy is essential
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts, exercising initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality is required.
- Ability to guard confidentiality is required.
- Demonstrated good judgement in serving the needs of the Unit, and the Program, including staff, patients and families.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member, be self-motivated, make sound independent judgments, take initiative and problem solve is required.
- Comfortable, adaptable and has the ability to support other staff working with computer systems and software.
- Knowledge of Inuktitut, both written and spoken, is an asset.
