Position Summary:
As a Warehouse Custodian, you are responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and operational safety of all warehouse zones. This includes general cleaning, sorting and stacking pallets and using powered equipment to move materials and large powered sweeping/scrubbing equipment throughout the warehouse. This position requires you to work in all temperature zones.

Shift and Compensation:
- Mon - Fri (6am-2pm)- Sun - Thu (2pm-10pm)- Mon - Fri (2pm-10pm)- Sun - Thu (10pm-6am)- $21.92/hour- *We are now offering medical, dental, prescription drug, and EAP benefits after 30 days of employment vs 90 (STD, insurances, & RRSP matching will still have a 90 day waiting period)*

Specific Responsibilities and Functions:
- Experience driving a power sweeper and power scrubber is strongly preferred.- Must be comfortable with frequent lifting 50 lbs and carrying.- Experience operating cardboard/shrink wrap baling equipment is favorable.- Cleaning washrooms, locker rooms and replenishing supplies. (soaps, paper towels, hand cream etc.)- Clean warehouse floors, shelves, walls and where applicable.- Cleaning and washing walls, stairs, ceilings and floors.- Clean the cafeteria, including the food preparation area, freezers, coolers and storage areas.- Remove Garbage and recycling materials as needed.- We are a 24/7 operation, and you will need the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.- Able to work in all temperature zones: Cooler (1-2 degrees Celsius); Freezer (-6 to -20 degrees Celsius) *Freezer suits, freezer gloves and freezer boots are provided*- Self-starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic- Strong organizational and communication skills- Operation of powered equipment (Dockstocker)

Working Conditions:
- Exposure to three (3) different temperature zones within the warehouse.- Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.- Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.- Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately -15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as -23 degrees C.- Moderate noise level.- CSA approved steel-toed safety boots must be worn on the warehouse floor.- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to various food-safe cleaning detergents and soaps.- Must be able to operate various forklifts, battery changer, and floor scrubber. Some basic knowledge of computer operations is required.

Additional Details:
- Employees are hired on a full-time basis. However, given the nature of the position, an employee’s hours of work will be irregular. Your hours of work may be scheduled on any day of the week (Monday through Sunday), with varying shifts.- During peak seasons, scheduled overtime is required, and may include up to 13 hour shifts.- There is a 30-minute paid lunch for an 8-hour shift and 40-minute paid lunch for a 10-hour shift.- GFS Delivers every day of the year, as we are a 24/7 operation. Employees must be flexible to work all Statutory Holidays, however, this does not necessarily mean that employees will be required to work all of them.
