Job description
- Scotia Metal Products is a local manufacturer of metal roofing and siding panels for residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial buildings. Based in the Burnside Industrial Park, Scotia Metal Products sells to building supply dealers, contractors, and end users all across Atlantic Canada. Due to continued growth, there is currently an opportunity for a Delivery Driver to join the team._

**_Looking to fill a full-time position, primarily Monday to Friday and home each evening_**_. **This position also supports the warehouse and production functions with opportunity to drive more eventually.**_

**Summary of Position**

Delivery Drivers are responsible for transporting Scotia Metal Products orders to our customers at retail locations and on-site locations for contractors and home owners. The driver will operate Class 3 or 5 flat-deck straight trucks equipped with knuckle booms to off-load material on job sites currently over Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. This position would also involve warehousing, production, and forklift operating responsibilities as a filler depending on the delivery schedule.

**Roles & Responsibilities**

**_Including but not limited to: _**
- Maintaining a professional hours-of-service log book
- Demonstrate safe and responsible driving at all times including but not limited to observing speed limits, signaling appropriately and getting adequate nightly rest.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Accurately offloading the correct items at each job site based on checking off order paperwork.
- Ensuring the load on the truck is always safely secured.
- Continually ensuring vehicle is clean, organized, and free of hazardous conditions
- Safe operation of a flat deck delivery truck in Urban and Rural areas.
- Operation of a knuckle boom to perform some deliveries
- Effectively and timely communicating with management, sales staff, and other warehouse staff regarding orders, scheduling, safety and any issues.
- Actively participating in safety and maintenance programs.
- Maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with customers and representing the company.
- Operating forklifts safely and competently.
- Operating pneumatic shear, computerized metal trim folders and computerized metal panel roll forming machines (will be trained thoroughly).
- Accurately following paperwork, counting inventory, packing orders, shipping, receiving, and loading vehicles.

**Qualifications & Abilities**
- Ideally a valid Class 3 (with air endorsement) driver’s license, **clean** drivers abstract and criminal search.
- 3 years minimum Commercial Driving Experience in a similar role.
- Confident as a delivery driver with 30’ to 40’ trucks
- Must be familiar with DOT driving regulations
- Having safety for yourself and others as a priority.
- Prepare, inspect and operate vehicles in a Safe and efficient manner.
- Assess each delivery for potential hazards and issues and safely proceed if safe to do so.
- Able to work outside in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
- Clear, effective and timely communication with management, co-workers and customers on relevant matters, especially with anything safety related.
- Can remain calm in busy and high-pressure situations
- Have a positive, can-do attitude.
- Physically fit, able to lift up to 50 lbs and capable of driving for long periods
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read, write and work with documents and instructions while ensuring accurate counts and the correct products are accounted for.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to superior customer service
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Have proper safety footwear (safety toes Green Triangle CSA approved)
- Punctual, reliable and “fit for work”
- Drug Testing may be required.
- Motivated to learn new processes and have good communicating / listening skills in a fast-paced environment.

**_Considered Assets: _**
- Forklift operating competency with minimum 2 years experience
- 2 years minimum experience warehousing or production experience.
- Experience with knuckled boom operation and rigging
- Mechanically inclined

- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident for this position.
- Should already be living in the area and familiar with Nova Scotia roadways.
