Under general supervision and reporting directly to the Nursing Programs Lead, the Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible for providing effective instruction and assessment during delivery of theoretical and clinical practice trainings of learners in a variety of settings such as online, classroom, lab, hospital, and community facilities. The Clinical Nursing Instructor must identify the strengths and weaknesses of the learners, while providing a nurturing atmosphere of experiential learning and training where learners can grow intellectually as well as professionally. The Clinical Nursing Instructor may at times have responsibility for the preparation and delivery of education online, in clinical, and laboratory settings; incorporates evidence-based practice into teaching activities and maintains a commitment and responsibility for facilitating learning according to the prescribed curriculum and works collaboratively with the Nursing Programs Lead and all other staff.

**Duties will include but are not limited to**:

- Prepare, coordinate, instruct, and supervise learners during their delivery of online theory courses and clinical rotations;
- Support the learners in using methods of problem solving and higher-level thinking in nursing and personal relationships, through individual;
- Monitor learner progress to ensure stated objectives are adequately addressed and met;
- Assess learner competence to identify strengths and address weaknesses. At a minimum, complete written and verbal mid
- and final-rotation evaluations with the learner to communicate leaner progress and address any areas of concern;
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to facilitate quality care and learning;
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of academic content;
- Utilize a variety of classroom teaching strategies and assists with on-line prelab learning materials; Prepare and utilize audio-visual aids as required;
- Assist in delivery of theory and labs, using a variety of delivery methods, such as simulation and discussions;
- Provide input into sequence and organization of content along with revisions of print-based lessons and resource material;
- Contribute to the process of assessment of the academic and clinical progress of learners;
- Participate in the decision-making process of learner progress;
- Assist with learner assessment (e.g., grades, assignments, skills, clinical competence);
- Assume responsibility for personal and professional development;
- Assume additional duties assigned by the Nursing Programs Lead;
- Other duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
- Must have current registration with College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island;
- Must have a certificate course or national certification in specialty nursing as required for position;
- Must have current certificate in Basic Life Support ;
- Must have a valid PEI driver’s license;
- Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Instructor training;
- Demonstrated clinical competence in nursing;
- Minimum of three years recent and continuous clinical experience in nursing specialty;
**Other Qualifications**
- Previous teaching experience is an asset;
- Previous preceptor experience is an asset;
- Effective oral and written communication skills are required;
- Good judgement and ability to prioritize work assignments;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Evidence of recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency;
- Adaptable to a variety of clinical settings and clients;
- Ability to effectively coordinate, supervise and implement learning experiences in clinical and lab settings;
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and self-directed behaviors;
