Position Summary We are looking for a Microbiologist based at our Sterling Road Factory, reporting into the Quality Assurance Team Lead. This role will be responsible Perform Microbiology testing of raw materials, line samples, Finished Products, and environmental samples in compliance with QMSs. The incumbent will also support the factory’s Food Safety and Quality Systems through evaluation of product conformity, plant hygiene, and associated programs. The Microbiologist also demonstrates leadership and a desire to represent the best interests of the Nestlé Quality System. **A day in the life of a Quality Assurance Analyst
- Microbiologist
- Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished products as required
- Evaluate and determine release of in-process and finished products based on micro results
- Conduct environmental monitoring of factory by microbiological analysis of environmental swabs, closed loop and potable water samples
- Create, update and manage sampling plans for pathogen and environmental monitoring, closed loops monitoring and extra testing as required
- Interpret and log all data, trend results as required, report deviations
- Certify quality of products by adhering to all requirements and schedules in micro ICP
- Organize and manage QA-micro supplies and equipment required to accomplish quality related functions
- Work with vendors to procure necessary lab equipment, services, and lab supplies as required
- Review, update QMSs and SOPs as required
- Collect micro data for cleaning validations and verifications, micro validations, MOCs, improvement projects, and investigations as required
- Respond to extra test requests from other departments
- Log and monitor extra testing and costs
- Ensure compliance with Nestle Quality Management System (NQMS), ISO 22000, and Quality Policy
- Provide guidance and training to team-members in areas of technical expertise and QA procedures
- Perform duties in accordance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirement
- Participate in Friends helping Friends (FHFs)
- Member of Food Safety Team
- Member of Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Laboratory S&H Champion
- Responsible for taking care of themselves and their co-workers, for following S&H rules and procedures, and for highlighting and addressing new risks as they are identified.
- Assigned the role of biosafety advisor; must be able to advise management and personnel on biosafety and biosecurity **What will make you successful?
- BS degree in Microbiology or closely related science discipline with relevant technical and practical experience
- 2-5 years’ experience in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred
- Intermediate level proficiency in MS Excel
