**Position Information**:
The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented leader for the role of Clinical Director, Emergency. This role is responsible for setting and achieving the long term and short term operational, clinical, financial, quality, and utilization/effectiveness goals for the Emergency, Trauma and Sexual Assault Partner Abuse Care Program teams. Key areas of active involvement include strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, utilization monitoring, quality initiatives, and corporate concerns including legal and human resource issues. The Clinical Director is integral to supporting the work life balance of their team and overall wellness goals of their portfolio. They are advocates for promoting student learning, education, and staff development.

**Rotation/Shifts**:
Days, 8 hour shifts.

**What you will do**:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Clinical Operations, the Clinical Director is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Emergency, Trauma and Sexual Assault Partner Abuse Care Program teams. Throughout the course of your duties, you will be required to:

- Provide leadership to the staff and managers within the Emergency, Trauma and Sexual Assault Partner Abuse Care Program teams;
- Manage, develop and coach department leadership team;
- Initiate and participate in the development of portfolio-specific goals and objectives to reflect the leadership and vision of TOH and corporate plans;
- Plan, implement and evaluate effective and efficient delivery of services to meet the needs across the continuum of care;
- Develop linkages with the community to facilitate continuity of high-quality care;
- Support quality patient care through multidisciplinary quality improvement processes that facilitate coordinated care across the continuum of care, incorporating interdisciplinary standards of care, accreditation, management of patient concerns, clinical excellence indications, and provision of access to program related services;
- Maintain a human resources plan for clinical services employees (including management, ONA, CUPE, and OPSEU employees) which includes recruitment, hiring, retention, evaluation and discipline;
- Chair/facilitate/represent the portfolio on committees/task forces at the hospital, provincial, and national level;
- Provide leadership in the planning process for the implementation of the functional plans for the department;
- Work in close collaboration with staff, management, Senior Leadership, and Hospital Governance to develop, establish, monitor, manage and enhance Service Line performance in respect of service targets, quality indicators and resource utilization targets;
- Coordinate and support effective resource management for budget, staff, supplies and equipment.

**What you will bring**:

- Master's degree in a health or business-related field;
- Ten (10) years of healthcare experience in progressively responsible positions, preferably in an acute-care hospital setting;
- Five (5) years of experience in a formal leadership role;
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and experience with change management and transformation to effectively lead change within a large and complex organization, ability to mitigate and manage change within diverse groups;
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, evaluation and financial management;
- Excellent knowledge of the diverse patient populations that experience the various forms of treatment and care at The Ottawa Hospital and beyond;
- Demonstrated ability to deliver above-average performance while maintaining and building collaborative relationships;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively handle complex/sensitive issues and to manage and motivate managers and team members;
- Strong organizational and time-management skill and ability to provide direction to others in managing competing priorit
