**Role Overview**

The Machine Operator I (SMT) role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automated SMT equipment and visually inspecting populated PCB’s. Additional responsibilities include operating the “Automated Optical Inspection Machine” and PCB washer as well as other related duties.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Ensure high-quality electronic assemblies are produced from the SMT process, measured by compliance with IPC standards and AEM’s quality program.
- Operates SMT Production equipment such as stencil printer, placement machines, reflow oven and AOI machine.
- Assist other production areas in time of low demand as required.
- Maintains SMT assembly equipment per manufacturer’s specifications.
- Assist with diagnosis and repair of faulty SMT equipment with the help of Lead Hand and/or OEM support staff.
- Maintain a high accuracy of inventory and traceability of parts used, including counting parts and adjusting inventory.

- No education or experience required; training is provided in-house.
- Experience working with repetitious assembly of small electronic or other products is an asset.
- General experience with computers is required.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- A strong work ethic with a positive approach to working with others.
- Appropriate PPE, including CSA approved footwear and the use of respirators, may be required for specific tasks. Non-custom hearing and eye protection will be supplied by AEM. AEM will reimburse a portion of the cost of approved safety footwear and custom eye protection in accordance with company policy.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail is required.
- Ability to successfully pass the security assessment of employees who need to examine, possess, or transfer controlled goods or technology is required.
