**Position Summary**

This position is one of three Directors, Enterprise Partnerships, who work in the Strategic Partnerships Office (SPO), and reports to the Associate Vice-President, Enterprise. The Strategic Partnerships Office identifies and creates strategic partnerships with industry for the University of Alberta, both internationally and domestically, that bring high-value, revenue-generation opportunities to the University of Alberta, simultaneously advancing the institution's education, and research & innovation strategic imperatives.

This Director role will have a particular focus on the Life and Health Sciences sectors, fostering partnerships that advance innovation and commercialization in areas such as health research, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, and clinical innovation. The incumbent will work closely with the College of Health Sciences, ensuring alignment with its strategic priorities.

The Director helps the SPO act as a one-stop-shop for industry providing companies a one-stop
- shop, helping them connect to relevant U of A research groups, creating workforce development programming, and helping with accessing our facilities. The Director will identify high-value opportunities for partnership for the U of A, assessing and triaging incoming opportunities, working closely with various other units/offices on campus.

The Director will help coordinate, as best possible, key messages and strategy, when working with strategic industry partners. Ensuring coordination, communication, alignment amongst disparate university offices dealing with strategic corporate partners.

The incumbent contributes to the enhancement of the profile of the three Colleges by building and enhancing relationships with key national and international industry partners and supports revenue-generating activities for the Colleges. The Director is expected to maintain a close working relationship with the three College Deans to understand both University and College strategic objectives/plans.

**Duties**

The Director builds partnerships for University of Alberta staff, faculty, and students with strategic external partners. The Director leverages domain expertise that are relevant for the College of Social Sciences & Humanities, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences to lead the relationship building between relevant University of Alberta members, and collaborators from industry, government, and the not-for-profit sector.

The Director supports:

- Academic and commercial partnerships for the three Colleges nationally and internationally.
- Maps of key opportunities and assets within the three Colleges to support presentation to partners on opportunities available at the Colleges and the University of Alberta.
- Business development activities including meeting with a variety of external agencies interested in partnering with the University of Alberta.
- University-wide collaboration with other offices to ensure that external partners can create interdisciplinary and university-wide opportunities in partnership.
- Delivery of programs that support University of Alberta members in leading practices in partnership development. This includes dialogue and decision making with University of Alberta members that enables the prioritization, maintenance, and growth of partnerships by understanding the strategic and tactical needs/expectations of both the University of Alberta and the partner organization.
