The Material Handler is a key role, supporting the Distribution team by preparing shipments, staging loads, unloading, and loading transport trucks and sea containers. This role also supports the Steel Manufacturing team with material handling in and out of the plant as well as machine operating during slower periods.

**Full-time, Hourly new hires are eligible to earn a $500 signing bonus upon successful completion of their probationary period and an additional $500 after 1 year of service**

**Education & Knowledge**:

- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Valid Driver's License (asset)
- A Forklift Certificate (may be obtained through employment)
- Manufacturing environment experience considered assets
- Knowledge of Lean principals, raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

**Skills**:

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Operate Forklift moving a variety of materials
- Self-starter & Team Player
- Excellent time management & attention to detail
- Physical strength is required for manual material handling
- Able to inspect parts for quality assurance
- Able to operate equipment such as band saw, forklifts and hand tools

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 2 years’ related experience in Material Handling/Load Staging

**Communication**:

- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Good interpersonal communication skills

**Responsibilities**:

- Inside and outside material handling
- Operate (and inspect) material handling equipment to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles to the warehouse, trucks and yard
- Pick and stage loads using Pick Lists
- Opening containers and crates, fill orders, assist in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
- Ship, receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials and stock
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Handle, move, load and unload materials by hand or material handling equipment
- Operate winches and other loading devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks
- Unload and route goods to appropriate storage areas
- Load trucks
- May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
- Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually and/or by computer, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
- Prepare necessary paperwork
- Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
- Inventory activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking
- Support Steel manufacturing with getting materials for operators and welders
- May be required to pick inside materials, nuts, bolts other small parts and prepare for shipping
- Clean truss surfaces and inspections as required
- Support Machine Operation in Steel Manufacturing during slower periods; Cold Saw, Band Saw, Roller, Bender, Iron Worker, Purlin Press, Coper
- Assist with company goals through optimization of productivity and material solutions
- Maintains a clean, safe working environment for self and co-workers
- Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity
- Other duties as assigned by management

- Web Bender (squisher, clipper, bender)
- Purlin Press
- Coper
- Small part
- HSS
- Small Robot
- Big Robot
- Electrician / Electronics
- Mechanics
- Jig making

**Experience**:

- material handler: 2 years (preferred)
