RPN - Medical/Prescription Assistant - Permanent Part time (22.5 hrs/week)

KDMPC is a team-based Primary Care Medical Practice with an innovative office flow and dynamic interdisciplinary health care team. Dr. Dharssi utilizes a team of professionals including a Physician Assistant, Nurses, Medical Assistant (s), Receptionists, an I.T. Specialist and an Executive Administrative Assistant in order to provide care to his large medical practice.

We invite applicants who are professional, motivated, ambitious, and looking for a fast-paced team environment. Our medical practice has a unique vision, “Innovative Partners in Care,” delivering care with an unprecedented office flow and a dynamic inter-disciplinary health care team.

We require an RPN in the office for 22.5hrs/week to share the role responsibilities with one other Medical/Prescription Assistant. Opportunity to increase hours as required in office.

Skills and Responsibilities:

- Completes reconciliation and monitoring of client medications
- Prepares prescriptions for physician review and signature
- Corresponds with pharmacies regarding patient profiles, dispensing history, alternative options, routine or urgent prescriptions, and advice
- Under the supervision of a physician interacts and contributes collaboratively with respect to medication adjustments, lab ordering, and blood pressure management
- Liaises with retirement homes to complete biannual medication reconciliations and annual Tamiflu forms
- Keeps complete and accurate records with timely documentation in the electronic medical record including reports, blood pressures, completed prescriptions, immunization/medications started/performed by external provider
- Promotes healthy lifestyles, contributes to education, and supports client centered care

Qualifications:

- Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Ability to work independently, as well as with an inter-disciplinary team
- Sound judgement, high-level organizational skills with proven experience with multi-tasking and prioritization
- Pharmaceutical/medical knowledge is a requirement
- Ability to learn and incorporate latest information
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Comfort with a constantly changing environment and unpredictability
- Experience with electronic medical records - preferably Telus PS Suite
- Proficiency in the use of computers and technology

**Salary**: $27.88 - 31.40/hr
