**Job Summary**

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller by examining and analyzing accounting records, ensuring accuracy in data and reporting, and assisting in the timely preparation of monthly financial statements for a number of related companies. The Assistant Controller will also play an integral role in maintaining internal controls, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes, among other duties.

**Job Duties**
- Assist with preparing financial statements, analyzing and forecasting company’s financial status
- Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
- Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports
- Assist with year-end external audit process
- Accounts payable & accounts receivable
- Assisting various departments with accounting and finance direction as needed
- Overseeing and executing payroll functions including CRA remittances
- Manage journal entries, invoices, and reconcile accounts

**Requirements**:

- Strong understanding accepted accounting practices; proven experience as an Assistant Controller or other similar position
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office and accounting software
- Proactive, takes initiative and works independently
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Critical thinking and confident decision making with the ability to implement internal policies and processes
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Manage numerous priorities at once and be able to multi-task effectively

**Experience**
- University degree or college diploma in accounting, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years in an accounting role
- Experience in residential or commercial property management considered an asset

**Working Conditions**

**Hours of Work**

Monday - Thursday 9AM-5PM
Friday 9AM-4PM

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
