**Job Summary**:
This position will develop and provide oversight for the university’s external relations strategies concerning two targeted audiences: community organizations and strategic university partners (industry). It will provide strategic direction and execution of operational plans that advance the university’s initiatives and enhances the university’s engagement with community and industry partners. The Director will develop the strategy and operational framework for the Partnership Office. The position will also provide oversight over the university’s community relations strategy and act as the university’s primary liaison with economic development agencies.
**Nature of work**:
This position reports to the President & Vice-Chancellor, and will represent the University externally with promoting the university’s brand and building its reputation as a partner of choice.
**Responsibilities/accountabilities**:
**1. Partnership Facilitation.**
- Spearheads the development, strategy and operational framework for the university’s Partnerships Office including metrics, documentation, tracking and collaborative workspaces.
- Chairs a pan-university committee and working groups for Strategic University Partner (SUPs).
- Provides strategic advice to senior leadership in service gaps, industry trends, etc.
- Develops corporate strategies to increase financial support and engagement in the university’s activities including establishment of baseline metrics and aspirational targets.
- Develops and coordinates corporate strategies for new and existing corporate partners with a special emphasis on developing high-value engagements from across the university.
- Facilitates coordination of internal Ontario Tech teams to increase engagement of corporate partners across academic, research and fundraising priorities that support the university’s strategic priorities and goals.
- Acts as the institutional liaison for select strategic partners liaising with senior level industry partner contacts
- Coordinates the development/modification of policies, processes and resources that facilitate partnerships across the institution.
- Chairs an administrative working group around partnerships to build internal cohesion, develop partnership strategies and build institutional knowledge of individual departments.
- Champions university’s partnership value proposition to external stakeholders and influencers.
Represents the University externally, promoting the university’s brand and building its reputation as a partner of choice.
- Identifies and organizes corporate and community engagement with Ontario Tech faculties, researchers, and departments.
- Proactively tracks and reports on unit engagement and outcomes impact.
- Coordinates the development of pan-university resources that facilitates partnership development including maintenance of institutional Partner web pages.
**2. Community Relations.**
- Provides oversight in the development of the university’s community relations strategy.
- Coordinates the university’s activities with local boards of trade/chambers of commerce to proactively promote and position the university.
- Facilitates an internal committee to deliver on our community relations strategy to maximize the university’s sponsorship opportunities.
**3. Economic Development.**
- Develops, facilitates, and promotes the university’s role in economic development at local, provincial, and national levels with government.
- Develops and promotes key messaging that positions the university as an economic anchor.
- Liaises with (economic development), community and industry stakeholders to positively position and leverage Ontario Tech as an innovation.
- Participates in large regional strategic initiatives to position the university Support the Region’s Intelligent Community Steering committee.
- Chair quarterly meetings with City and Regional Economic Development staff.
- Support local economic development agencies in their support of local businesses as it ladders into Ontario Tech strengths - primarily talent development and expertise.
**4. Supervision/Administration.**
- Manages Partnerships Office staff.
- Represents External Relations and actively contribute to institutional committees.
- Provides strategic advice and analysis to the President, as well as the University’s senior leadership team as it relates to, the PSE sector or university-industry relations.
