- **About Our Opportunity**_

Reporting to the Manager, Building Asset Planning, the Accessible Projects Lead is accountable for providing specialized input required for establishing, implementing, and managing the Accessibility Improvements Program (AIP) for NSPHA. The incumbent administers and manages NSPHA programs and defined projects that impact internal and external stakeholders.

Located in a general office environment 75% of the time. The remaining 25% requires travel to various districts to meet with clients, service providers, and operations teams.

This position is within the Building Infrastructure and Asset Management division of NSPHA, Corporate Services, serving all districts.
- **Primary Accountabilities**_
- **Oversee Accessibility Improvements Program**: Lead the development and execution of the annual Accessibility Improvements Program, prioritizing and managing capital renewal needs for accessible infrastructure in collaboration with Housing Districts.
- **Mentorship and Oversight**: Provide guidance and support to project managers and construction coordinators, ensuring adherence to best practices and promoting continuous improvement.
- **Project Coordination**: Lead province-wide accessibility projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring timely project close-outs.
- **Policy Communication and Administration**: Define, communicate, and oversee accessibility policies for NSPHA, addressing complex stakeholder concerns and managing expectations.
- **Standard Development and Resource Management**: Maintain and enhance standards, processes, and tools. Evaluate team performance, foster a healthy workplace culture, and manage procurement and budgetary needs.
- **Accessibility Program Integration**: Incorporate the Accessibility Improvements Program (AIP) into annual work plans, developing, promoting, and monitoring its effectiveness.
- **Stakeholder Engagement**: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including provincial accessibility bodies, ensuring compliance and fostering collaboration.
- **Budget Monitoring and Reporting**: Analyze and manage operating expenditures, producing financial reports and forecasts. Maintain strong relationships with AIP stakeholders, including clients, service providers, and operations teams.
- **Qualifications and Experience**_
- You have completed a university degree in a related field and have five (5) years of related experience, including accessibility standards and regulations. A combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Experience in issue identification to better understand accessibility issues and policy research to gather information and advance accessibility initiatives.
- Working knowledge of the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act and current codes and regulations for accessible infrastructure planning initiatives; National Building Code, National Fire Code, OH&S acts, and regulations.
- Ability to read architectural plans and documents used to achieve accessibility improvements.
- Knowledge of benchmarking, experience with electronic document control, and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project software.
- Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes and a willingness to travel.

- Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (or similar training).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- **Competencies**_ _required at this level of work are Compliance Knowledge, Communication, Interpersonal, Organizational, and adaptability to change. _

**Salary Range: $67,187.91 - $81,673.18 annually**

**Work Week: 35 hours**
