Temporary Corporate System Specialist

**LOCATION**:
Administration Office, Pembroke

**STATUS**:
Temporary (1.0 FTE)

**HOURS**:
5 days/week (7 hrs/day)

**SALARY RANGE**:
$28.85 - $32.05 per hour

**S UMMARY**:
The Corporate Systems Specialist reports directly to the Manager of IT and is responsible for developing, installation, configuration and maintenance of corporate hardware, software, and any related infrastructure. This includes assisting with all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization’s priorities and enabling Board employees to do their work effectively. The Corporate Systems Specialist is responsible for diagnosing and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability. He or she will also be accountable for planning updates and maintenance of hardware and software resources to mitigate limitations and combat obsolescence. After hours work may occasionally be required for pre-planned maintenance or trouble shooting. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

**JOB DUTIES**:
Engineer Hardware and Software solutions for operational needs;
Install new or rebuild existing services and hardware, peripherals, settings, storage, etc. to achieve operational requirements and project specifications;
Participate in the implementation and completion of the disaster recovery plan in the event of failure;
Ensure compliance with all information security policies and standards by performing regular audits and ensure software licenses, patches, firmware and security updates are applied. Manage user accounts, creating, updating and removing access as necessary;
Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed;
Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, help desk tickets, and other methods;
Collaborate with other IT and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security, and ongoing performance;
Perform hardware and software upgrades;
Maintenance and configuration of the Fortinet Firewall;
Monitoring and troubleshooting of wireless networks;
Maintain Board based servers and services

Administer Azure AD and Google Workspace;
Virtualize servers into Azure Cloud as required;
Primarily responsible for daily backup and recovery of critical corporate servers and single point of failure devices;
Participate in the planning of future technology projects;
Control and monitor user access;
Test and install issued patches in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties;
Develop and maintain expertise through professional association and professional development opportunities;

Act as a technical resource during other projects as required;
Maintain production server infrastructure in Azure.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Minimum 2 year diploma or equivalent in Computer Systems Technician;
At least 2 years of work experience in Systems Analyst role would be an asset;
Systems Administration certification in Microsoft;
Experience in hosted cloud solutions, preferably Azure;
Experience in MDM solutions would be an asset;
Excellent working knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls, Switches, wireless controller;
Demonstrated knowledge of system design and analysis;
Strong knowledge of system design, installation, backup, recovery, storage management, methodologies, processes, and tools;
Ability to design and troubleshoot scripts (powershell);
Experience in database administration, and report building would be an asset;
Able to interpret the operational requirements of end users, project leads, and other stakeholders;
Ability to write concise and accurate technical documentation;
Able to stay abreast of current and future technological developments or trends;
Good written and verbal communication skills;
Able to work independently or as part of a team;
Self-starter and highly motivated to make proactive changes;
Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback from superiors;
Effective deadline management and project management skills and

Knowledge of service level agreements and customer service standards.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Travel may be required;
Ability to attend and conduct presentations;
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals and

Overtime as required.
