**_Position Overview_**

The Child Care Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation of the Child Care Center, including the implementation of all approved developmentally appropriate activities and programs according to the Early Learning Framework and Child Care Regulations. This role is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and supervision of the planning, development, delivery, and administration of the Child Care program.

**_Responsibilities and Duties: _**
- Ensure that the daily operation of the Child Care Centre complies with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCR).
- Identifies amendments for policies and procedures for the ongoing improvement of the operation of the child care program.
- Supervise the activities of all Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.
- Preparation and execution of the annual operating budget.
- Make the necessary arrangements for admitting and discharging children while maintaining a daily record of all arrivals and departures and communicate all enrollment changes to the staff.
- Responsible for the hiring of all new staff in consultation with the Community Services Program Manager.
- Plan and equip the center with developmentally appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Facilitate the management of each child’s programs and routines in collaboration with educators and families.
- Meal planning to encourage healthy eating habits and consumption of nutritious snacks.
- Maintain regular communication with the parents, including parent/staff interviews.
- Responsible for maintaining current First Aid training, Food Safe and valid ECE certificates to ensure compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCR).
- Understanding and demonstrated proficiency in the Aboriginal Early Learning Framework.
- Continual personal and employee development to retain staff and to meet the current and future needs of the organization.
- Keep all staff up-to-date on required training.

**_Qualifications_**
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
- Minimum 5 years of experience running a licensed child care centre with at least two (2) years in a management role within a First Nations environment preferred.
- Current validated certificate to practice through ECE Registry is mandatory.
- Active professional member in ECEBC Professional Association and BCACCS.
- Completed training in the Indigenous Early Learning Framework.
- Completed ethics training in ECEBC’s Best Choices Ethical Journey.
- Demonstrated ongoing commitment to attend professional development courses annually.
- Valid First Aid and CPR and Food Safe certificate.
- Up-to-date immunizations in alignment with licensing requirements.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s license.

- Enjoys working with young children and actively contributing to their healthy development.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education with well-developed child behavioral management skills.
- Develop and deliver curriculum developmental activities that help participants learn, socialize, play, and express themselves.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Able to build caring relationships with a variety of age groups built on trust.
- Ability to serve as a role model to young children, staff, and the community.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise and model a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Able to work independently as well as working within a collaborative team framework.
- Intermediate computer skills including MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

**Salary**: $57,588.00-$74,042.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
