**Job Purpose**

The QA Coordinator supports the QA Manager in overseeing and managing all aspects of Quality Assurance for Academy. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with quality standards, and internal processes, assisting with process optimization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. They assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance programs, contribute to risk management, and support team development while fostering client and vendor relationships under the guidance of the QA Manager.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**Quality Assurance Operations**
- Assist the QA Manager in managing direct reports, including training coordination and work assignment.
- Support the implementation and auditing of code compliance reviews and welder/fitter testing.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining Academy’s weld procedures.
- Coordinate with Managers to support operational and production reviews.
- Manage subcontractors and conduct subcontractor audits under the QA Manager’s direction.
- Develop, implement, and monitor procedures for drawing reviews, material receiving and allocation, hydro testing, spool verification, assigning weld procedures, and welding inspection.
- Ensure welding equipment and hydro testing tools are properly allocated and maintained.

**Continuous Improvement and Data Management**
- Identify inefficiencies in QA workflows and recommend process improvements.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain data on QA metrics, including defect rates, compliance audits, and rework costs.
- Prepare and present QA performance reports for the QA Manager and executive leadership.
- Review and implement Lessons Learned from Academy’s Lesson Learned program to support continuous improvement initiatives.

**Technology and Systems Support**
- Assist in implementing and managing QA-related software tools, such as defect tracking, document control systems, or NDT reporting tools.
- Provide training to staff on using QA tools and software systems effectively.

**Team Leadership and Development**
- Mentor junior Quality Control staff, providing guidance on technical skills and QA standards.
- Lead small quality improvement initiatives to foster team development and improve operational efficiency.

**Client and Vendor Engagement**
- Assist in preparing client-facing documentation, such as quality plans, weld maps, and inspection reports, inspection, and test plans (ITP’s) and weld matrix.
- Participate in client meetings alongside the QA Manager, ensuring alignment on quality requirements and resolving any concerns.
- Support vendor and subcontractor engagement by conducting regular audits and maintaining compliance tracking.
- Act as a liaison to ensure clear communication of quality expectations to external partners.

**Risk Management and Compliance**
- Work with the QA Manager to identify potential risks in projects and propose mitigation strategies.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a risk register for quality-related issues.
- Stay updated on codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA) and support certification and accreditation processes.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Build relationships with vendors to support audits, bulk consumable purchases, and equipment reviews.
- Assist in the development, preparation, and maintenance of Quality Control Manuals.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the QA Manager or higher leadership.

**Qualifications**
- Experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Welding and or Metallurgy in piping and structural steel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Industry-specific trade training is an asset.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam software is an asset.
- CSTS-2020 certification is required.
- WHMIS certification is required.

**Working Conditions**

The incumbent will primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels. Occasional fieldwork may be required, including exposure to outdoor conditions, inclement weather, and physical tasks such as carrying objects, climbing stairs, or driving.

**Physical Requirements**

The role requires extended periods of standing, sitting, and viewing a computer terminal. The incumbent must have close visual acuity for analyzing data, transcribing, and performing detailed work.
