**Job Summary**
The Mobile Crisis Response Counsellor will provide immediate mental health support to black youth experiencing Mental Health Challenges both in the community and in the Emergency Department in collaboration with community partners. This specifically trained clinician will provide a safe space for Black youth supported with cultural competence of the black community to ensure inclusion and anti
- oppressive approaches in a healthcare setting while at the same time provide a rapid mental health crisis response to a youth in crisis.
**Qualifications**
- Masters of Social Work or equivalent relevant education and work experience required
- Registration in good standing with the appropriate College or professional association, to comply with licensing according to hospital professional practice requirements
- Valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and ability to provide a clean drivers abstract
- Professional experience working with vulnerable and marginalized populations
- Lived experience as a member of the Black Community
- 2-4 years’ experience working as a clinician and providing crisis assessments
- Knowledge of trauma, mental health, substance abuse and harm reduction
- Racially sensitive counselling and crisis interventions experience
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the community being served
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team/collaborative with others
- Demonstration of initiative and sound clinical judgment
- Role models both professional and organizational core competencies.

**Primary Responsibilities**
The Crisis Response Counsellor will collaborate and respond to calls from community members working specifically with the Black and Black identifying youth community and their families. The Crisis worker will respond when appropriate by joining a clinician in the community working with Black youth, to address safety planning, determine risk and ensure a safe plan with the youth and family. The crisis worker will also provide culturally relevant assessment, triage and crisis intervention in the Emergency Department and assist with ensuring culturally responsive support tailored specifically for our Black youth in the community. The Crisis Counsellor will engage and support building collaborations with community partners ie. Police, EMS, community outreach in order to provide warm hand overs to our emergency department in regards to the MH crisis of Black youth. The crisis response counsellor will endeavor to support warm hand overs to other emergency department crisis workers to support culturally sensitive approaches.
