Business Analyst -Finance (18 Month Contract - Fixed Term)
**Summary**:
In this role, the Business Analyst - Finance will partner closely with resources from Finance, Operations, and IT to define project scope, facilitate business requirements and process documentation to effectively design and implement solutions and operating models. As part of a larger program, this role will help drive one of the key streams in a large system implementation. The stream is focused on the financial aspects of the implementation, and as such, a financial background would be an asset.
**Accountabilities**:
- Facilitates business requirements gathering and process mapping sessions and prepares BRD and BPDs
- Partner with Finance, IT and Operations to closely monitor timelines and project cost to ensure adherence with approved project plans. Variances to plan will be documented, reported, and escalated if required
- Responsible for coordinating schedule and documentation within the stream
- Participates in QA testing and Operations Readiness testing
- Ensures that scope creep does not result by enforcing change management procedures
- Prepares and contributes to internal presentations related to project scope, timeline, activities, issues, budget, process, and progress as required
- Partners with project members to prepare project timelines, and assists with the determination of a project scope that is scheduled in manageable components
- Facilitates governance meetings to communicate progress, status, issues, assignments, and escalations
- Responsible for communication and change management plans (i.e. the preparation of project communications, adoption strategy
- Partners closely with training team to develop training curriculum and supports training with Operations teams
- Escalates issues and risks to senior stakeholders to develop proper mitigation plans
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field of study
- Familiarity with financial concepts and IFRS standards is an asset.
- Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAPTM) preferred
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle models
- Ability to collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value
- BA or BS or equivalent experience is required
- Ability to work well with colleagues in a team environment, but also perform well independently with mínimal supervision
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
- Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels
- Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
