**Afternoon Kindergarten Program Staff**
**Employment Status**: Part-time (afternoon hours)
**Summary**: The Afternoon Kindergarten Program Staff is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children enrolled in the unlicensed afternoon kindergarten program. They will work closely with the Lead Teacher and other program staff to facilitate various educational and recreational activities that promote the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children.
**Responsibilities**:
Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times during program hours.
- Maintain proper supervision during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Follow established procedures for signing children in and out of the program.
Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and organizing age-appropriate activities, games, and projects for the children.
- Engage children in creative, educational, and recreational activities, fostering their individual interests and talents.
- Support the development of motor skills, cognitive abilities, and social interaction through structured play.
Behavior Management:
- Model positive behavior and encourage children to follow appropriate social norms.
- Address behavioral issues calmly and effectively, promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
Communication:
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other staff to share information and ensure consistent care.
Environment and Cleanliness:
- Ensure that the program area is safe, organized, and conducive to learning and play.
- Keep the program area clean and sanitized, adhering to health and safety standards.
Emergency Procedures:
- Familiarize oneself with emergency protocols and procedures.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergency situations that may arise.
Compliance:
- Adhere to all policies and guidelines set forth by the child care center/school.
- Be aware of and follow state regulations regarding unlicensed child care programs.
**Qualifications**:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children in a child care or educational setting is preferred.
- ECE diploma would be preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
- Basic understanding of child behavior management techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to undergo background checks as required by the child care center/school.
- Applicant will need to submit a statement of their Christian Faith.
