**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**
Reporting to the Project Manager of Community Outreach in the Waste Policy and Planning section of the Waste Management Division, the Community Outreach and Education Analyst plays a key role in implementing and evaluating the Division’s education and stakeholder engagement initiatives to align with the City’s strategic priorities. The Community Outreach and Education Analyst actively participates in internal and external project teams, serves as a liaison with various stakeholders, and takes the lead on project-based initiatives as needed.

**GENERAL DUTIES**
Assist in the development, design, coordination, and implementation of education strategies and plans for the Waste Management Division, such as increasing participation in waste diversion programs.
Research, create, and design reports to support program and policy development, including internal newsletters and other promotional and educational materials to keep stakeholders informed of key initiatives and updates.
Assist in creating engaging multimedia content for social media and external marketing campaigns aimed at driving behaviour change to meet the Division’s goals.
Contribute to the creation of promotion and education communication plans for the Division.Maintain a computerized system to support divisional promotion, education, outreach, and overall program performance. This includes using data systems such as SharePoint, Intelex, or D365 for record maintenance.
Liaise with and engage interest groups, volunteers, contractors, schools, private industry, and the general public to support the Division’s initiatives. Coordinate and represent the City on various working groups and committees involving a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Receive, investigate, and respond to inquiries from the general public, businesses, industry associations, other municipalities, and staff.
Design and develop layouts and graphics for educational materials and promotional items, such as door hangers, flyers, and newsletters.
Develop clear, concise educational materials for residents, ensuring the content aligns with corporate branding guidelines. Effectively translate technical information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Division’s webpages and other applicable promotional and educational technologies, including apps and social media platforms. Lead initiatives to enhance resident engagement through these channels.
Maintain public communications for the Division’s social media platforms, including, but not limited to, Facebook and Instagram. Monitor social media channels to identify issues and respond promptly and effectively to comments and questions related to Waste Management programs.
Coordinate staff engagement initiatives for the Division, including employee recognition programs to celebrate achievements.
Track, monitor, evaluate, and provide recommendations on Divisional strategic initiatives using program and participant data.
Prepare procurement documents such as Requests for Quotes and Requests (RFQs) for Requests for Tenders (RFTs), including specifications and terms of reference.
Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Perform other related duties as assigned that align with the major responsibilities of the role.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Proven knowledge of promotion and education theories and practices, typically acquired through the completion of a University Degree or Community College Diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline, with previous experience related to the duties listed above.
2. Demonstrated experience in communicating, promoting and / or educating large groups on topics related to Waste Management or similar programs and prior experience in stakeholder engagement and behaviour change initiatives.
3. Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and evaluating engaging multimedia content tailored for social media and external marketing campaigns aimed at driving behaviour change.
