**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Foreman, Parks Services, the Labourer II position performs a wide variety of work functions within the outdoor rinks and snow bank rinks and other duties within the Public Works Department. The position uses safe work practices and procedures to carry out assigned tasks and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the work team.
**Responsibilities**:
- include, but are not limited to:
- Perform ice maintenance duties to provide a clean, smooth, clearly marked, level ice surface that is available when required by the public and user groups.
- Ensure all rules and regulations pertaining to the outdoor and snow bank rinks are adhered to.
- Performing pre-equipment inspections and servicing of vehicles and equipment at the end of each day, reporting mechanical problems to the Foreman.
- Operation of light and medium duty equipment in a safe and efficient manner used in the maintenance of the outdoor rinks and snow bank rinks, sidewalks, trails and open spaces.
- Operation of handheld power tools (power edger, ice re-surfaces, snow blowers, edger, shovels).
- Responsible for collection of data on public usage within the outdoor and snow bank rinks and janitorial services as required.
- To ensure facilities are unlocked, and/or secured in accordance to all schedules, policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**:
Hours of Work: Varying shifts, working 40 hours per week from November 18, 2024, to December 27, 2024.
Varying shifts, working a minimum of 15 hours per week from December 30, 2024, to March 14, 2025.
Duration: November 18, 2024 - March 14, 2024
