Taekwondo Instructor

**Job Overview**

Moohan Taekwondo was founded in 2017 to provide quality martial arts training in a way that promotes excellence in technical skills, character development and Taekwondo spirit. We aim to empower the individual, the family, and the community to realize their full potential.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and caring Senior Instructor specializing in poomsae (patterns) to help unleash the potential of our students.

Your primary duties will be to supervise and instruct students at all levels of Taekwondo and to coach our competition poomsae team.

To be successful as an Senior Instructor, you should be ready to assist the head instructor with the development and implementation of our club curriculum as well as identify and solve issues with the physical, technical, and emotional development of our students. You must have strong communication skills, be knowledgeable in Taekwondo and educational techniques, and be passionate about the success of your students. You must also be prepared to become a positive role model for our students both inside and outside the club.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Foster a positive learning environment
- Teach fundamental and advanced Taekwondo techniques to students in accordance with the Moohan curriculum
- Monitor student progress and identify areas of excellence and/or concern
- Together with the head coach, develop and facilitate a strong training and plan for our competition and high performance poomsae team
- Enforce safety rules and regulations
- Assist with planning and delivery of club events such as camps, tournaments, and field trips
- Coach and/or assist students and staff at tournaments and other events as required

**Qualifications and Skills**
- 1st dan Taekwondo or higher with Kukkiwon certificate
- Specialist knowledge in World Taekwondo poomsae (patterns)
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Comfortable teaching students of all ages in small and large group settings
- An understanding and caring attitude and a strong desire to make a difference
- First Aid (including CPR) certified, or the ability to become certified

**Schedule**
- 4-6 hour shift
- Monday - Friday 3:30-9:30 pm
- Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Additional availability for events: tournaments, camps, promotion tests, etc.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Markham, ON L6B 0P2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Taekwondo: 5 years (preferred)
- Teaching: 2 years (preferred)
